In the embedded video, based on Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard, I tell the story of Attila the Accountant, who ranked himself among the best because of his attention to detail, his rigorous standards, and his ability to resist political pressure. But these attributes upon which his self esteem rested we holding him back and making things difficult for his co-workers and vendors. In the video, we find out how the director of planning was able to shatter Attila’s positive illusion by letting Attila experience the negative impacts he was having, which allowed Attila to develop empathy and how you can achieve the same for the Attilas in your life.
